Cosy, calm and creative- the power of three!
Last night’s Art Club at The George once again did not disappoint! With three intrepid artists stepping out to brave the wild weather, joining me for a calming drawing workshop and gentle chatter. Once again we were in the conservatory space and there was something truly magical about hunkering down while the rain fell to focus our attentions on drawing in the snug space.
We looked at mark making, observation and composition, which repeated the activities of the first workshop at The George, and experimented using a wide range of different materials- last night’s favourite was a soft pencil and smudger. With these, we were able to achieve an aged stonework effect which was a technique developed by one of the course participants and duly shared so that we could all have a go. This sense of collaboration and relaxed way of working meant that there was no pressure and that we could all focus on playing with ideas.
The feedback from the evening was lovely and was topped of by another 100% rebook rate! I love my job and am grateful to be able to do what I do and to meet such interesting people.
This weekend I have a family art workshop planned featuring: printing, painting and drawing- bliss!
